Brand Your Event
Branding is an Old Norse word “brandr” dating back 4,000 years to a time that farmers burned wood to brand their cattle. It’s a practice still used today in Southeastern Colorado and around the world for cattle owners to claim what’s theirs.
In modern marketing, the term branding means to give a product identity. Think Nike, Ralph Lauren, Apple and more.
But now there’s a new type of branding in play: branding your event.
It’s no longer sufficient to send an invitation, put some snacks out on the table and play a little music. Today it’s about distinguishing your event from all others, using creativity to do things differently, making yours memorable.
For weddings, put the couple’s initials on the invitation, the napkins, and even on the dance floor using a Dancefloor Gobo, a lighting projector that lights up the floor with the couples personalized initials.
Food stations are a way to get guests to mingle. If you want to serve a traditional dinner, do so with a twist: serve whipped potatoes in a martini glass. Or take mac and cheese and top it off with a buttered bit of fresh lobster.
While the center of the plate is important, so is the center of the table. And the budget doesn’t have to bust the bank. Instead of fragile fresh flowers, consider faux, or alternatively candles in lanterns and pine cones. The point is to select something that demonstrates your individuality.
What will it be: open bar, cash bar, beer and wine? How about adding a signature drink in honor of the happy couple?
Remember when you were a kid and loot bags were distributed as each child left the birthday party? Create your own Go Bag for guests, filling it with candy, fake tattoos, sunscreen or whatever is in keeping with the party itself.
