Black exterior paint has become the most popular for homes nearly overnight. Pinterest, the world’s most popular photo sharing website for design ideas, reports that saves for black houses grew 774% in the last five years. In 2018, saves spiked when a New York Times article about black exteriors appeared.

In 2018, Curbed.com reported that Tricorn Black was the 12th most popular paint sold by Sherwin Williams in the United States up from the 33rd spot the year prior. The ebony hue was also the sixth most popular color in Canada in 2018.
